Animal Husbandry
AniClin offers Animal Husbandry Services to maintain your research colony in compliance with Animal Welfare Act (AWA) requirements and be immediately ready for your research studies.

Monitoring: Animals are monitored daily for adequate environmental conditions and general health as required by the AWA.

Animal Identification and Record Keeping Requirements: The AWA requires appropriate identification of animals and maintenance of animal records. AniClin identifies the animals per Sponsor needs in compliance with AWA requirements. Animal records are maintained a minimum of 3 years following completion of the study.

Special Requests: Special husbandry requests will be considered by AniClin management. Management will review the request and determine if IACUC approval is required.

Enrichment: AniClin has enrichment procedures for most species of animals under its care.

Feed: Standardized commercial diets are available for most laboratory species. AniClin provides appropriate diets and ensures that food is fresh and free from contaminants. AniClin can assist with selection of specialized diets and provide information on their availability.

Sanitation/Cleanliness: The AWA has established schedules for frequency of cleaning animal rooms and for cleaning and changing cages. AniClin SOPs pertaining to sanitation are followed by our animal care personnel to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Cage sanitation schedules can be altered to accommodate special research needs of Sponsors.

Movement of Animals: AniClin carefully transports animals between laboratories and the animal housing areas in an effort to minimize the amount of stress the animal may experience while being transported. All animals are transported in approved cages that will prevent escape and/or injury and can be sanitized between animals.
